Sergei Alexandrovich Yesenin’s Correspondence and Poetry

The aim of this project is to explore Segei Yesenin’s correspondence network and poetic corpus through the field of Digital Humanities. Using various computing methods, such as data visualization and textual analysis, the project provides new perspectives on the life and work of one of the best-known Russian authors of the 20th century. We seek to answer the following questions: With whom did he prefer to correspond at given moments in his life? To what extent did his correspondence influence his poetry? What patterns emerge in his poetry over time? The data source for Yesenin’s correspondence and poetic corpus will be provided by the website and the digital analysis is primarily run through the data visualisation platform called ‘Palladio’ and the textual analysis platform ‘AntConc’.
